Understanding William Blake House
William Blake House (WBH) is a spiritually oriented community serving the developmental needs of its residents with learning difficulties. To fully understand how the house worked I spent an evening in one of the houses (based on the outskirts of Northampton). Having had a tour of the facility, what really struck me was WBH felt like a haven, a place where everyone was helping each other. I needed to create a site which contained elements of community / charity /spiritualism. (more…)

Our freshly launched site William Blake House has just been featured in one of the worlds top CSS Galleries CSS Mania. Only the top sites are showcased here so thanks to all for the hard work put into the site. I’m sure we’ll be making another here appearance shortly.
I will be writing a case study at the end of this week talking through the design process for WBH, so keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Over the years in.house.media have worked with a large number clients and created many web sites. Throughout this time we have continually refined and developed our design process to what we have today, which we believe is the smoothest and most productive method to create web sites that will exactly meet your requirements whilst also delivering results.

The BAD Design. A Necessary evil?
Bad design allows us to make a comparison. Without bad design good design wouldn’t exist…it would just be design. In the same way that if there was no dark, light would not have the same meaning as it does now. In essence one can’t exist without the other…we need both the yin and yan: good design and bad design. (more…)

There is every reason for you not to seek design feedback, as inevitably faults will be picked in your design and you may end up in tears. Even if you are you one of those designers who thinks you’re rock and roll and you’ve got an ego at point size 600…well you need to stop believing this and take a hard look in the mirror. To become a better designer there needs to be the realisation that you are never the finished article…only after this step can we begin to make strides. Now bin those shades and tuck into a portion of the humble pie. (more…)
