Get ‘Real Time’ with Google

Google has just upped the stakes once again by rolling out its new ‘real time’ search results functionality which brings up-to-the-second results of the latest information to be added to the web. This presents a brand new opportunity for local companies to get national coverage on Google.

You may have already noticed that when you now carry out a search on Google it also shows a list of ‘real-time’ results, which are mixed in with all the other search results. These are usually ‘latest news’ articles that have recently been added to the web.

So by posting the latest relevant news on your blog or by ‘Tweeting’, your articles could well be found by Google and displayed on the first page of results. It is good news for those people who already actively ‘Tweet’ because Twitter, along with social networking giants Facebook and MySpace, have partnered with Google to make this possible.

With so much information out there now being constantly generated this is an essential new development for Google. The trick to making it work for businesses is to comment on the latest topical events, but making sure you include relevant keywords that are likely to be searched on. This will result in people visiting your articles and your web site and even becoming regular followers if you continue to post articles”.

Overall this is really just the start and there is a lot more to come because rivals Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing are hot on the heels of Google and will soon be launching their own versions of ‘real time’ results, providing even more opportunity for businesses”.
